Tax Law?

The IRS is the Big Bad Wolf of the federal bureaucracy. They have very few agents that truly know the tax law, if indeed anyone can “truly” know the tax law.

If you have an audit notice, bring it to me, or to your CPA. You have a right to a face-to-face meeting with the auditor, something that IRS does not like. Never attend the live audit yourself. Send a representative. The IRS examiner will be able to “hear you sweat.” If you can resolve the matter by mail fine, but don’t bet on it. IRS has a remarkable way of never answering your questions, instead just sending more and more ominously threatening notices.
